Is it really *that bad* to be applying to tech companies right now? I am burning out on consulting and thought I could get better WLB and comp in tech but there are many alarmist commenters on here signaling doom in tech because of the recession…

I have been working the same position for 5 years. But our job title has changed a few time I went from a pre registration rep to a verification specialist during my time there I want to branch out but not sure where to go from here. I have a bachelors in Health Science. 5 years experience dealing with patients, insurance, referral, data entry, etc.

What are good companies to work for that also pay WELL and hire remote? This inflation situation has me worried and my current company is great to work for, but on a budget freeze so no promotions or salary increases are approved for the time being. :/

I’ve been told that cold applying and making no contacts is usually not going to lead to anything, and that’s been true in my experience. But should I reach out to someone first?
