Currently on a F1 opt visa (student) in the US. Didn’t get my work authorization here. Trying to move to Canada, but don’t think my points add up for the PR yet (I’m 23) contd.

If you are not able to get a job another way to come is by applying for a student visa. A eight month program may help you increase your points and get you a post graduate work permit. By this you will also become eligible for many Provincial Nominee Programs. Companies are more open to sponsor you for PNP as an international graduate then someone from outside.

hmm.. you are quite qualfied. However, you may not be able to qualify for the PR directly or any work permit category since the experience is less then a year and generally a company will have a hard time sposoring a job offer. You can look for a specialized certificate that can enhance specific skill. For example project management, data analytics etc.

Do I have options of looking for jobs and then coming in on a work visa? Or what are my options? Any help please

That’s what I did

P1 - I’m just staring to go down that route can you share some inputs ... websites? Linkedin references? The company that offered job in CA did wait for you to finish your visa and paperwork?

Can you list some 8 month programs?

Sent a personal message.

Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?

My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? I love my SO but get unsure....they just went on a friends trip and came back and randomly said going on another one in two weeks. I said I wanted to spend time together so they came back next morning and said let's go away just us instead, which is awesome and I am happy BUT is it a red flag? They used to always be all about spending time together and now seems like I have to remind them to put us first in the past month. We both work hard and have kids so life is more complicated. Vent over.

I have been at my company for 3.5 years. One year ago (2.5 years into my employment with them) they re-leveled everyone and I was bumped to an entry level position on the terms that they changed my job title when they re-leveled, so “technically” I am at the early stages of my new title. Even though the job duties did not really change.
I’m not sure the best way to approach this. Has anyone else had a similar experience or know how I should advocate for myself?
