I'd be more risk averse in this scenario. Third party companies are a big red flag for USCIS these days. I wouldn't do it
OP - Why go into a 3rd party company when you are already in big 4? If money is what you want, did you consider moving to another big 4 for a pay bump?
Does my scenario will hurt my chances of getting h1b extension. Is there any other thing that I should consider while working as a contractor?
Go for it. Pay is usually good and if they offer 401k then it's awesome. One thing to look out for is to make sure you are not gearing the travel cost. I guess this company is a preferred vendor for D?
Yeah, travel is on the company. So m good there . Will check what happens if the contract expires.
@EY1 that is what I am worried about.
EY1: third party companies are red flag coz many a times they don't give exp letter for visa situation. They don't even allow client to acknowledge the resource's work and that becomes a red flag. If OP has these letters it should be good.
Also depends on how much is the pay bump..
Pay bump is like 1.7 times from what I have been told.
@M2, yes I am looking for a better pay. Will probably look into switching.
Deloitte doesn’t pay for third party contractor travel in most cases.
I would not do it. Reasons.
1. Current VISA environment. You are only increasing the risk by one more fold at least.
2. Exit opportunities.
Look at what kind of exit opportunities you would receive when you try to come out from that contracting shop. No one will see you as a consultant anymore rather you would be seen as developer/admin or whatever.
3. Long term career growth.
You again have to come back to consulting firms or industry (basically big firms) and by then your peers would be in much better position and with much better/diversified skills.
I would suggest to go for a better company. Big4 or industry or product companies (start ups to FAANG anything should be fine)..
^ in addition to above points, I think the Premium processing is suspended now. It will be a huge risk if you change now with receipt and later get an RFE.
