Dads of teenagers - parent of a toddler here. Looking for some honest answers. I know that every stage of parenting has its ups and downs, but I pretty much only hear about how much parenting a teenager sucks. How do you combat being bored with your family during the holidays? Better than having family drama, but I think I need to stop coming home for the holidays.

Advice and/or consolation anyone? My wife and I (both above average health 30year olds) were trying for 11 months before getting pregnant and then had a week 5 early miscarriage a few months back. If the stress and surprise of just how difficult it apparently is to get pregnant wasn’t enough, the miscarriage put us over. What is your agency’s maternity or paternity leave policy?

I just started a new job 2 months ago, benefits and PTO don’t start until 90 days in so I still have a month before I can take off any time, and today found out my company doesn’t offer paid maternity leave.

As more details surrounding the Uvalde shootings emerge, my heart just breaks. Just learned that the gunman was in the school for an hour while parents were outside frantically trying to get in to save their kids.

Also, the husband of Irma Garcia (one of the teachers who lost her life) died of a heart attack today after visiting the memorial. The couple had four kids. I can’t even imagine losing one parent to this horrific tragedy and losing the other within 48 hours.
