2-3 weeks before the expected delivery
I recently took paternity leave. I stopped traveling about two weeks before baby was born and then took two weeks off and then took the remaining 3.5 months when my wife went back to work. It was great
Sorry OP; to answer your original question, I stopped traveling 3-4 weeks before the due date. One of those week was Fourth of July tho
Had agreed a two week cushion with the mrs but baby was 2.5 weeks early... all worked out well though and made it back in time
4 weeks bare minimum
I was planning for two weeks, but it ended up being 6 due to unexpected risks. Project team was fine with it, had been planning for that possibility for months prior
Starting at week 34ish, my wife had weekly OB appts and the OB doctor cleared me for travel or not. Ended up being very accurate and I didn't stop travel until week 39.
I traveled to week 35. It was twins, and they were induced in week 36, as scheduled. But, we were paying very close attention to the weekly appointments, and there was no sign that anything was happening early.
The week before due date I stopped traveling and then stayed home another week after baby was born. I deliberately planned it out this way though because I had my folks fly in to help so I could maximize my paternity leave once my folks left.
Damn. Traveling a week before due date? That’s dicey AF
I stopped 1 month before due date
We had a pre-term baby. 1 month prior to EDD. I was caught off guard. Employer supported me well, and my team stepped up to own responsibilities.
4 weeks before due date I worked from home
I haven’t experienced anything yet but I just got back last month. I’m trying to get promoted this year to manager so we will see.
My first one came 4 weeks early, luckily came on a Friday morning after I got home at 2am that day (water broke 30min after I got home). Was planning on traveling up until 2 weeks
My wife gave me an ultimatum on #2 and while I i planned to stop at the 4 week mark, stopped 6 weeks before due to some complications. He came on time.
Statistically if you stop at 4 weeks you should be great. I had an agreement form my project to pay for the helicopter transfer from fin district in nyc to the airport if anything last minute happened, if you can’t figure out a way home in 4 or 5 hours if wlsay be more cautious.
And you better be prepared to make all the logistics calls remotely. Wife’s only job is to get to the hospital. There can be zero uncertainty/churn with who is watching the other kids/picking them up form school. I had a 1 night trip at t-minus 2 weeks and I prepped by printing out all flight options and hospital arrival times based on when she notified me of labor, called options #1-4 for daytime and nighttime coverage of our existing kids to make sure they’d be available in a hurry, and made sure bags were packed and by the door
