Deciding between two offers. Comparable pay and bonus. Company 1 sounds super interesting, and I liked the hiring manager. That role is hybrid with an hour long commute (I’m remote now), and it’s a smaller company so if I get bored or want a change, I don’t know that there’s any lateral or upward mobility. Company 2 is remote with a company I’ve worked with before, and I have deep connections throughout many divisions of that company. I’m leaning towards 2 even though it’s less exciting. WWYD?

I’m confused by all these posts about Product Owners. I’ve worked at 3 Bay Area-based tech companies over 6 years and never heard of a Product Owner. As a product manager, i work with my engineering and design partners to figure out what to build and then build it. What role would a product owner play in all this? My honest assumption is that this role was invented by companies that want to pretend to be doing agile but aren’t really, but I’m open to being proven wrong.

I’m currently a Grade 11 at Cisco. With the recent pay structure changes my annual comp will be $150k + 12% bonus. I live in a large metro area in the middle of the US. I’m looking to move around the company so that I can make commission but I don’t want to be an account manager. How do you handle remote teams being in different time zones?
