Push for 90 EQS and get AA platty pro. Delta platinum is worthless into ATL. So it’s a draw. Upgrades will be tough to come by on either end with each airline having such a dominant hub Take the status of your home base airline.
That would be ideal but looks unlikely.
If int’l upgrades are super impt to you then there is really no alternative to doing AA. But don’t expect domestic upgrades and be prepared for a zoo during peak travel times.
I am no longer willing to get up half an hour earlier Monday morning (time difference in travel to Love Field + shorter TSA lines) so I personally would do Southwest but depends on your tolerance for that extra wait time. No int’l redemptions, but companion pass is amazing if you have an SO.
Yeah, I’ve had companion pass for years before we loved it. DAL over DFW any day. I’m wondering how likely it is to get upgrade with miles on international flights on non peak days with Plat or maybe Plat Pro.
I live in Dallas and have flown frequently to ATL. I’d do Southwest 100%. Best value for points redemption. Almost never have to check carryons so if you have shitty status to start it doesn’t matter. Only reason to choose AA is if you can spend enough to hit EXP, anything less and you don’t have a chance at upgrades.
Also international upgrades with miles on AA out of DFW are very difficult - limited availability on most routes and you’ll still get trumped by those with higher status.
Yeah that’s my biggest worry. I’ll have the miles to go comfort first to business, but as plat or plat pro, I’m just waiting to get beaten by EXPs and CKs. I think their complimentary upgrade takes priority over PP’s miles based upgrade.
I second delta, even though the points value makes me cringe, I get upgraded as gold every time
Yeah that’s the allure of Delta. I’ll be comfort+ at a minimum for the duration of this project. But I’ll have to kiss redemption goodbye.
Delta would be sweet for upgrades but where/how would I end up using my sky pesos? With AA, flying out of DFW, upgrades will probably never happen but hoping for upgrades (with miles) on paid international vacations. Approx 7-8 domestic trips/year and 1 international vacation each year - this is where I’d like to redeem.
Delta. You can always status match to AA.
Can’t status match platinum to platinum pro. Keep that in mind
