I’m 27 years old and married. A CFP from Northwestern Mutual is reaching out trying sign me up for a whole life insurance, supplemental disability, and obviously some mutual funds. I have PwC’s 10x salary supplemental life insurance and I hear that whole life is a scam so not sure if I need more. Don’t think I need more disability insurance but my spouse may need it. I have 115k in investments spread across diff vehicles. Do I need a CFP and should I sign up for mutual funds?

I have a Finance degree but no licenses; extremely detail-oriented and good with numbers. Thoughts on transferable skills to other careers? Was thinking maybe Data Analyst, Benefits Consultant, or even UW for a completely different product line. Appreciate any input!

The job description put an emphasis on finding an out-of-the-box thinker with an eye for design. So after the first round was scheduled, I sent a cover letter style email to my interviewer the day before. He responded in the interview at the beginning by saying: (continued in comments)

How have y’all advocated for yourself these spaces? There’s a clear disconnect on the value and time spent on design and how it enhances strategy & messaging - I’m so tired of feeling gaslit. :(

Say I want to do a major renovation on my house. Are there banks that would offer a loan (HEL or mortgage, don't care which) over 95% of the current appraised value of the house?

If we did it, we'd be adding a bedroom, bathroom, and garage, and we would be increasing square footage by about 75%. House currently worth around $400k with $260k left on the mortgage; future comps are worth about $650k. Best guess is it is a $200k renovation.

We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

Is there an easy/efficient way to figure out how much you've contributed to vs earned in your Roth accounts? I started contributing >20 years ago to my employer's Roth 401k and have rolled it over to a Roth IRA and moved it between multiple custodians, e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard, UBS, Personal Capital, etc. It is unclear to me how much I contributed vs how much I earned by investing it.

The purpose of doing this is I want to use $10K of it, but want to prove that the $10K is from my contribution.
