Ruler of ZBB?
McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

What PwC1 and SC1 say is fairly accurate.
McKinsey and BCG can command a fairly higher rate because 1. They wont usually staff only a UX designer on a project, it will be part of an integrated team2. Brand value
Because they can command a higher billing rate, will reflect directly in higher salaries of the said UX designer.
Higher salary would mean the better talent would compete for that role.
So in essence over, say couple of years, the UX designer at McK or BCG would have a better pool of resources.
Accenture doesn’t staff UX designers by themselves either... when I was there, we always had teams with both UX designers from Fjord and Accenture strategy folks. And fjord is an actual well known design firm
I’d imagine at a certain point the gulf in talent becomes apparent. Curious what others say
Accenture: big 5
Deloitte > Harvard
McK: (intentionally or unintentionally) ignores everyone else
BCG: we r better than McK
