How do MBAs feel about doing one year consulting then a year in industry strategy analyst role vs 2 years consulting?

I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.

Does anyone who switched from consulting to product management have any recommendations of h helpful PM books, courses, or programs?

Are there particular aspects that prevent you from diving in such as concern of gaps between projects, difficulty getting paid from clients, or do you enjoy the w2 position you’re in currently? Had been working as a BA/PM role at a financial firm for 3.5 years and decided to leave corporate to join my family’s small business with the mentality I’d take things over.
