Do I need to disclose if I get a second job or start doing side gigs to my boss? I work for the governor's office and I’m not sure what the rules are for taking on side projects.

I'd check the terms in your contract and/or handbook. This sort of thing should be outlined in them. I wouldn't imagine it's an issue though.

Our employee handbook requires disclosure, mainly as a first review against any potential conflicts. If there is a potential conflict additional documentation is involved.

Definitely discuss it openly with your manager. Public agencies usually have a policy of some sort, and sometimes an outside employment form to fill out for approval. If there’s no conflict & you’re not doing it on company time, it should be okay as long as your manager approves. But if you don’t disclose, then it could be seen as violating policy (if there’s one in place) and you could absolutely be subject to termination if no disclosure/ pre-approval, especially if doing side gigs during work time- I.e public tax payer time while WFH because It’s considered stealing. If it’s outside of your normal work hours (with management approval) then you should be in the clear. But def look at your policy and disclose / get pre-approval if the policy dictates so.

Possibly...but especially if there is a conflict of interest.

Why? As long as you are at your JOB on time and perform your duties you're good

Most government agencies would have a second-job disclosure. Namely because of conflict of interest.

We would have to disclose that information to prevent any conflicts of interest

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

I worked at LinkedIn and one of the senior leaders was sharing screen during a meeting. The conversation shifted but the leader didn’t stop sharing screen. Needless to say this leader was very distracted by other things on our call.

Secondly, when my team members see me in cafeteria we expect they'll sit with us but people here are being rude they directly go and sit with their friends they don't call you to join. ( atleast they could have said they are accompanied)
