I can’t speak for MBBs but I asked for 8 weeks unpaid at my firm last year. It was denied because they wanted to treat it like PTO and pay me the whole time. It was the best outcome.

Why don’t you take short term disability and get paid leave?
Doctor can easily write you off on sick leave for burnout. Previously been signed off for 8 weeks by my doctors (4 weeks and then a 4 week extension).
Mck london office also has 2 weeks of burnout leave you can ask for if you speak to PD.

BCG does. I’m sure the others do too. Which MBB are you at? Try asking in your company bowl.

B) even if they didn’t I suspect in your circumstances and the market they’d figure out how to get you some leave
C) you can probably figure out a way to take it paid
D) I’m confused why you think this question would get to an outcome you would find useful, since every MBB is going to have its own processes and procedures

At Bain you can take what’s called a “take 1” or “take 2”, which are fancy ways of saying 1 or 2 months of unpaid leave (benefits still covered though). Just have to let staffing know. Might not be immediate but they’re good about accommodating, especially if it’s an urgent need.
Mental health leave qualifies for fmla. Just need a doctor sign off. 100% paid.
