Do Summer Fridays in advertising exist anymore?

I remember the first media job I had, my young mind could not comprehend that Summer Fridays between the end of May and September basically added anywhere between 8 and 12 extra days to your annual leave allowance "free of charge", depending on how busy the year was.

Nowadays, Summer Fridays basically means a 3pm finish (as long as all workload is cleared)

Nowadays there are so many limitations on Summer Fridays. “You can leave at 1, but not if the client wants us to keep working, and you have to arrange coverage for the 4 hours you won’t be in, and you can’t use them in the same week there is a holiday or a PTO day, and you have to be accessible via Teams or cell phone while you are taking your Summer Friday.”

Before 2020 it was literally just, “Summer Fridays mean we leave at 1. That’s it.”

We get 4 floating summer Fridays to take between Memorial Day and Labor Day

No, because pre-covid we were in the office 5-days a week. So yes, Summer Fridays (half-day or full-day) off was a treat to employees. But now, with most being in three-days a week with Fridays remote, most offices don't care to give that time off anymore.

Yes we get them

Yes, but not in the same way they were pre-COVID

We get them. Depends on agency and country.

last two agencies we got them. current one not so much. i was writing until 8:30 pm last friday.

We get them. But instead of closing early, if you’ve already billed your 40 hours, you can not work Friday afternoon, schedule permitting.

I haven’t seen them in years. Think the logic is that wfh is the new perk. On Fridays I’ll dip a bit early when I can, given I worked 10-12 hour days every other day of the week.
