No. They borrowed thebmoney they should pay it back. Plus thats easily abusable. Someone sinply quits their job for a year, takes a LOA etc, gets income below 71k boom - forgiven.
Im all for reforming the existing public service loan forgiveness program which alloes for forgiveness after 10 years of payments for speciric roles in the public sector - but it should stop there.
I'm all for student loan forgiveness (not entirely, but a portion of it at least). That said, I think $71k is too low of a cut off - most people making that are struggling to pay too, imo.
