i drive uber eats during my free time and wonāt accept deliveries without a tip included (uber will tell you if thereās an upfront tip)
Pro
Makes sense. What is the pay structure? Does Uber say āyou will get X amount from us + Y tip for this deliveryā?
Usually 15% but never less than $3 and never more than $5. I donāt understand tipping a fixed % because the job doesnāt get more difficult when youāre getting sushi vs a sandwich or whatever
Iāve been doing a minimum 20% since the pandemic started - my tips donāt do anything to address the inequities between frontline and white collar workers in this scary time but itās a gesture of thanks I guess

Yes, always
20% always

I had seen this a few months ago, and am wondering if other delivery services do this, too.

20% always, if the company takes some why would you tip less and give them even less?
Pro
The rationale would be: if Amazon (or others like them) is just using my tip to subsidize what they pay couriers, why should I contribute to Amazonās margin?
Isnāt that why DoorDash did as well for a while?
Pro
Yeah. I think they claim to have stopped now.
Always, 15-20%
If you donāt tip, YTA
AITA if I just tip a few bucks no matter what I order? The delivery person is putting in the same effort if I order a $15 burger or a $5 burger. What's the rationale to give them a percentage?
Good thinking. I'll also factor in if it's snowing, raining, etc. And I am making someone bring me food in those conditions
20% without a doubt! If the weather is bad I tip more! Itās so hard out there, Iām lucky, Iāll forever give back, as long as I can!
