It can’t hurt but does bring you a lot of scammers, so be selective.
I have seen many people post about looking for a new job, and it does help. Someone who can hire you, may send you private message.
What I don't recommend is posting your resume for everyone to see. Scammers take advantage of this big time. Instead, write a post about the job titles you're looking for, what industries you've worked in and want to work in, and if you want onsite, hybrid, or remote work.
There are plenty of recruiters who will see this. And if you decide to put the Green Banner on your profile, make sure you check the box that says only LinkedIn recruiters can see it. Otherwise, you'll get numerous scammers posing as recruiters contacting you. Good Luck!
Personally, I do not believe so. It is a data scraper, and the “articles” AI generated drivel. LinkedIn is Facebook for the “networking” class. most apps are used primarily to gather data surreptitiously because of the inference it is “social.” It is after once people catch on because what is provided for that subscription fee (nothing) that we now see the limitations. People are on LinkedIn because of conditioning; particularly those that “generate” revenue. Having a LinkedIn profile is about the same as belonging to a trade association. It looks good on paper.
i never thought of it that way
IMO, depends on the industry and how solid your existing network truly is.
In this tough market, can’t hurt to post. Lots of people are looking for work. No sense in letting shame stop you from doing so
Absolutely. Do you want people to guess ?
I suggest you connect with recruiters at the companies you want to target first, then make the post. It will increase your chances of getting noticed by the people you're targeting.
I understand this is not a good strategy. You instead want to bring attention to yourself indirectly, but I am navigating this new path myself as well.
I can see this, I dont have a huge network on LinkedIn but I’m trying to get myself out there for a recruiter
The optimal method to look for work is to apply for the position and provide the data which is most useful to the desired employer.
Also, depending on your current employer behavior, you may experience repercussions when your employer's HR and/or management find your profile and become negative towards you for seeking new positions publically.
There is no retaliation for you when this occurs to you but the employer can begin procedures or actions to expedite employment contract termination.
It is advisable to post only when unemployed.
I would follow the open to work but to LinkedIn recruiters only. If you have a scrubbed portfolio of work you've produced that would be appropriate on LinkedIn (ie I made an educational presentation that is relevant for industry compliance) - post it. I would comment on some articles or draft some interactive posts that help highlight your industry expertise, as well as where you're hoping to pivot into and the why behind it.
No, you should not post that you are looking for work. Instead, post material, preferably original, about your industry or field. This will give you a short boost in visibility while behind the scenes you apply for jobs and connect with people. You’ll have to check the latest info but I iirc Tuesdays around 7am was a good time to publish.

Honestly I don't care anymore. One of my rant's got up to 69000 people. Somewhere in those three small cities is my next employer. We live in an attention economy.
Posting that you’re “open to work” won’t magically make you more attractive. It just makes you visible.
If your profile and work don’t back it up, it won’t matter. If they do, it can bring the right eyes — along with some noise.
Better approach: share what you’ve done, results, and proof of work. That attracts better opportunities than just saying you’re looking.
“More” how?
Yes, posting on LinkedIn about your job search can increase visibility and show recruiters that you are open to opportunities. It can be especially effective when you highlight your skills, experience, and the type of role you are seeking. That said, it works best when paired with actively applying and networking.
Are you just mean?
Often times this leads to a conversation with the next-level Manager; collab & support is challenging in many industries. He or she should value your input as to the Y on LinkedIn.
No it is a brutal waste of time. Only for the extroverts.Your best bet is apply and phone the recruitment department at the work. Inquire the date of the job interview. Treat people well & gratitude. Job will arrive.
What I do think, is that the more you engage, repost, follow etc. the more visible you are. I engage a lot on LinkedIn, and have never put ‘open to work’ and recruiters have contacted me. Yes, some contacts have been futile, and a bit of research will indicate that, and yes it depends on the job market, industry etc. but I can directly relate recruiter contact with my level of engagement. If you engage in content in the sector you are interested in etc. others notice. In my experience, at least.
Be sure to follow companies/employers that you're interested in. When recruiters search from their version of the LI portal, candidates following that company are highlighted (or listed higher, I forget which one).
