I’m in sales and don’t want to go camping with my team. Also, think about the general personality types in the teams you named. Sales executives are “on stage” entertaining and talking and asking questions all day everyday. They don’t need or want more of that in their personal lives. Typically they want to get paid and spend the weekend with the family.
In other kinds of jobs, with low pressure and low social interaction as part of the job description, find these sorts of outings as unique and memorable.
I AM, however, more interested than most in silly SPIFFs where I can earn a pair of Nikes or a gift card lol
Most of our “team bonding” happens around hitting targets, celebrating wins at the office, or grabbing drinks after a big deal closes. It’s definitely not as structured. If you’re in a position to propose something like this, I say go for it! It might just set a new, positive precedent for your team and the wider sales culture at your company.
We used to have team outings, kind of ended with COVID and never came back. I would be on the fence, honestly. I just don’t love having to commit weekend or evening time to something technically work-related.
Sales can be high-pressure and competitive, so having dedicated time to unwind, connect, and build trust outside of work could really boost morale and collaboration. If someone proposed a team outing at my company, I’d absolutely be up for it
I've never had a team outing. Team bonding for us means "war rooms." It could be a good idea though to take the edge off, especially in this industry. Even if it wasn't some wild excursion but just a simple activity or dinner. It would bring a human vibe back in that I think is missing a lot of times.
Nope, and I'm just fine with that. I spend enough time with my coworkers already. Feeling pressured to join in on forced fun does not sound appealing to me.
No we never have team outings haha. I have worked for several companies that had team outings before this and I was kind of glad when I came here and they don't do them. I honestly never liked going to them anyhow.
