Yes it's not unheard of and quite common for people to pass on the first try. That's not to say it's uncommon if you don't. Time effort dedication work schedules family etc all contribute to your ability to focus and put in the time you need. Doesn't matter so long as you eventually pass. Once that happens no one cares about your score or how many times you took the exam.
@Snr. Mgr 1: Here's the thing. I don't have to justify my life choices to you. I am exactly where I need to be as I have no desire to be partner. I have tons of experience working with all Big 4s, BDO and RSM, and when I find an industry opportunity that lines up with my desires and works with my family situation I'll take it. For now, I'm paid well and have all the flexibility I need. Not everyone is in a race to the top 🙂
You passed the exam 15 years ago and you are still a manager
🙋🏻 but I did it between finishing school and starting working. Not working while studying was a huge luxury I know most people aren't given
Someone offered a manager a partner position? 🤔
Almost all of my friends passed all 4 parts within the first attempt. If you truly invested your time to study I don't know how you wouldn't.
Lots of people do it. It just takes a lot of work and dedication.
I passed all first try in less than 6 months. I studied everything single day after work. Started studying just after tax season ended.
Took all four parts within a couple of days before I started graduate school and passed on first try. I studied full time and didn't have much of a social life but it is possible...
AM1 you didn't get an offer to be a Partner while you were not even yet a Sr Mgr lol. I agree with your point on not needing to be racing to the top but come on be real
Partnership at the corner CPA store Joe Shmoe is not exactly that hard to turn down. Let's not confuse that with big4. Of course people are gonna react when you don't specify that one important detail.
I passed all 4 on the first try while working full time at PwC. I admit I don’t have much sympathy for folks who can’t pass the test ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
I passed everything on the first attempt in 6 months. I was in the last semester of college. my life was like hell
Almost everyone I know passed all the first time. A few of my friends failed reg
I took my last two parts within a week of each other during busy season the last week before the exams switched
Most people do...
AS1--Never said it was Big4...you sure sound like you have developed the condescending bullshit attitude I experienced with the Big4s, yet if you look around FB it appears most people there are pretty miserable...but hey, they work for a Big4. My best experiences have been with none-Big4 firms. Working for a Big4 doesn't make you great m'dear, you certainly didn't build their "reputation."
I know myself
I did
I did it. Passed one part before work started in Sept and my last part I took on like Jan 3 and passed just before busy season started. Had to study my ass off and stay disciplined but it's possible.
