Have final round interviews at BCG tomorrow. I'm at S& right now at the SA level. Father had a sudden health issue come up this week and it's got me off my game. I'll ultimately need to support him financially for at least a year while he recovers. Not complaining, but has me considering just dropping out of the interview process. Is that crazy? With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I'm launching a small PE firm and need advice on structuring equity for early founding team members.

I don't want to give up equity in the firm for several reasons but I do need to incentivize my team.

Should I offer phantom stock or form a subsidiary LLC and issue stock in that but always own the parent co? Or just offer carried interest for deals they each manage?

If you could go back and start over would you still choose this path? Or would you choose a different career and/or a different time to have children? I accidentally became a working parent in law so while I love my job and my children I don't think I would have planned it quite like this.
