I am looking to identify committed Christians within Deloitte who would be interested in serving on the US board of a global non-profit committed to restoring the lives of those who have been traumatized via human trafficking or gender-based violence in SE Asia. Deloitte has been instrumental in partnering with Hagar International via pro-bono consulting and we would love to leverage this partnership on our US board.

The concept you're asking about is called "inerrancy" in theological terms. From an evangelical perspective, it means that if the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet 1:20-21) then it MUST be true in absolutely everything it affirms (Num 23:19, John 17:17)... historic, scientific... everything. If that's hard for you to accept, here are 2 things that really helped me on my journey fwiw:
1) Inerrancy comes with guardrails! It is not literalism. The Bible is made up of 66 books across a range of genres. They aren't all intended to be understood literally. Inerrancy is also restricted to the original copies, in the original languages. It doesn't preclude transmission errors that may have occurred over time.
2) And finally, inerrancy requires proper understanding/interpretation. There are things in the Bible that are difficult to grasp, and many passages that may ultimately elude us in this lifetime. But when these difficulties arise, we should trust in God rather than lean on our own understanding (Prov 3:5).
Charles Ryrie said: "Assume there are answers, rather than conclude there are errors."
God Bless
Could not have said it better myself. Agreed!
The Bible contains history, prophecy, poetry, and instruction, all inspired of God. Do we take the metaphors presented in the poetry parts (like in Song of Solomon) literally? Not when it is obviously a metaphor. But for history and instruction, we should take them literally. Prophecy is a bit more nuanced, but our default should always be literal.
Very well said!
Literal truth. Are there parts of the bible that you’re struggling with or think should only be taken lightly? Would love to have a discussion to know what you think or what prompted you to this! ☺️
This an excellent point. Almost always this question is a result of struggle with something.

The way I came to Christ was through a one on one bible study for months where I asked all of those questions that you don’t necessarily want to ask in public.
She never answered me…. she took me to scriptures and I read it for myself.
Hear, believe, repent, confess and be faithful until death.
Each journey is special and relational Studying for myself was an awesome blessing that was shared with me.
I pray that everyone has a wonderful testimony on Bible study and transformation
Maybe we should start some Bible study on here
Great question
I think archeological evidence proves we should take it literally. Obviously there are parts that aren’t like the beasts in Daniel - are actually nations. And revelations is more of symbolic literal things to come, and usually Bible has a lot of symbolism used to describe heavenly / out of earth / understanding things. Please let me know if you have any other questions
