In industry...potentially, depending on how long this drags on and the particular industry. For example, tourism and hospitality could be pretty badly hit if this drags on for months.
In consulting, I'd say it depends on the firm and its client base. In the same scenario, a firm that focuses heavily on tourism/hospitality would likely have layoffs. On the flip side, a firm that focuses on federal work, for example, probably would skate through relatively unscathed.
Never been a better time to be on the federal side as much flak as we get on here. We'll all be teleworking from next week onwards for the foreseeable future too

I think it will for small/medium service/travel businesses and the travel industry at large. Many short term layoffs have already happened.
This will impact nearly all industries - retail, food and beverage, hospitality, travel, events, entertainment.
Hourly workers are impacted as businesses don’t need to staff due to lack of business. Lack of business leads to less profits and layoffs of full time staff. As people have less money, less spending across the board. It goes on and on.
Manufacturing in certain sectors could easily have short term shut downs.
