How early is too early to ask for a raise?
Any work or use to work at Chartwells K12
Hi there! Interviewing w/Amazon for a non-tech role (Associate Category Manager aka Associate Buyer) and was asked what my salary requirements are for base+bonus+equity. Can anyone share insight on what Amazonians make in this role. I have 4 YOE and glassdoor is not very helpful.
Any feedback is appreciated 🙏 Amazon
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Negotiate your salary. The equity could be something or it could be nothing. Treat equity as a plus but not your starting point for negotiating.
thank you!
As someone in tech yes 😂 but it does tend to be fairly industry specific. I didn’t see it in banking or oil & gas unless it would have been a start up; where pay was average - but they wanted to retain and reward top talent.
I think company size, and role are also important factors. Executives, VPs, C-suite will have much richer compensation packages and avenues compared to average employees. But you usually need to operate at a significantly leadership level to open these compensation doors.
Overall, I would expect it to be common unless you’re at a start up or a seasoned executive. Organization size will also be a factor - but HR will know what salary band/roles open the door to equity, shares, and other creative comp opportunities.
that makes a lot of sense! thank you for all of your advice and input, super helpful!!
