It’s a really good and positive community to be apart of and the friendships you build are amazing.
Reasons to be a jiujiteiro:
1. Your joints/back/fingers are too healthy and you would prefer them to be worn out and hurt all the time
2. You think cauliflower ear is sexy
3. Your wife is looking for a place they can meet someone new and the coach is kinda cute
🤣🤣🤣
So you can tell people you do BJJ
Did BJJ, was pretty good at it (blue belt in under a year and competed every 3 months). But everyone gets injured and I tore my meniscus. Was very intense and gets you "fighting fit" which is a whole different kind of fitness.
It's like a level above normal fitness. For example you can be a runner but a 5 min round will destroy you
I took it as a preteen. Helped when I was a teenager and people started fights with me. Could end things quickly without throwing a punch. I would say it was a few years well spent.
I literally just started it at the beginning of July. I love it. I already got my four year old in it also and he also loves it. Just a fun way to exercise and build confidence.
Have done BJJ but got into more as a way to expand my martial arts hobby than anything else. Think it’s good from that perspective but not the best (prefer Sambo and Wrestling).
Do think it’s more active than many other MMAs though which means more people to meet and train with.
My coworker did this. He'd often show up to court with a black eye or inflamed ear. Super classy. (His BJJ class was early before work.)
Not necessarily the right bowl. But try it out! Anything that keeps you active with a good community is worth trying. Great for the body and the mind.
