I handle this by scheduling regular touch base meetings so I can run down with them all the things I need their guidance or input on.
I'm in a similar situation right now - my approach is to stay on my manager with review reminders everyday and telling them exactly how many days are left til our deadline. Politely lighting a fire below their ass haha
Schedule 1x1s and have an agenda going into them, show that you have a plan. If your mgr is consistently too busy for 1x1s, that’s a red flag because they will probably be disconnected from your work and not know enough about it to advocate for you at higher levels (which is their job).
Be nice to yourself, you’re learning a new job, it’s not unreasonable to expect your manager’s guidance and input, especially as you are learning.
