My nephew is a budtender and he was “promoted” to assistant manager and put on a low annual salary. They then put him on a 50 hour schedule without paying him OT. He was doing that for a month until I found out about it. And advised him that’s illegal. Now he asked two weeks ago “am I an exempt employee”. HR is “still working on it”
Umm yeah, some of the dispensary owners don’t know basic labor law.
I don’t think mat leave is required though?
The cannabis biz is not profitable. I recently sold most of my licenses because I couldn’t make money at it
May I ask what state you work in? Also, is this OT law the same in every state? I work in the industry at a manufacturing facility. They've been known to require salary staff to work 50+ hours weekly without any compensation.
