Does anyone have a part time arrangement they’re happy with? If so, do you have a set billable hour requirement or are you paid hourly? Work one less day a week? Handle only a certain type of work? Looking for ideas for how I could set something up. I have small kids and want to spend more time with them in the afternoons after school.

I was a solo practitioner earlier this year. Got an independent contractor role for a small firm as a contract attorney. $75 an hour and I could work as much or as little as I wanted to, anytime I wanted. I just let them know how many hours I wanted each week. It was employment defense. They ended up giving me a full time offer but it’s something I would go back to in a few years after I meet some financial goals.

Billable hour. No non-billable work.

Hi everyone! I have been in my current role as an EA at a financial institution for about a year and a half now. I would love to find a 100% remote role as a mid level EA at a company with an awesome work culture. I think I’m ready to be challenged again, I find myself bored in my current role… I’m open to any industry but would love to get into tech. If anyone knows of any openings I would really appreciate it! I’m located on the East coast currently. TIA

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?
