Congrats! I didn’t use a stomach binder (just learned about them here!) but wanted to say that walking was huge in the early days. Give yourself a lot of grace after baby arrives, you will have just done the hardest thing our species is capable of and it deserves ample recovery time. When you feel up for it, start going on a short walking outing each day, either with baby, with the dog if you have one, with a friend, or alone. Then, consider postpartum yoga (some classes invite baby to come along, they are really fulfilling and a great way to meet fellow new moms). Eventually you’ll be back to yourself but expect it to be months, not weeks. My second is 18mo now and I feel fully bounced back, finally.
(My first was also a January baby and I’m in Chicago so outdoor walks were not great or even safe with baby. Instead, I visited libraries, local conservatories, museums, and other nice buildings, usually with babe in the carrier. No judgment, just exploring. Have fun!)
The hospital gave me one
This had me looking like I never gave birth (c-section) a few months PP. I wore it religiously for 12 weeks
No, it didn't hike up when walking or sitting, at least not that I recall. Some positions did make it move up though, like when my thighs weren't together (e.g., sitting criss cross), but hip shape probably makes a difference. I'm 39 weeks and will be reacquainted with the band and its nuisances soon, but I really strapped up those 3 straps for maximum tightness (the hand pocket as seen in the pic helped me do this). It worked wonders for my waist and c-section recovery—I could sit up fairly comfortably and take walks after only a week. Can't recommend this specific product enough!
Buy a binder on Amazon, hospital gave me 2 for use.
I’d buy a derm roller and dark/scar remover, it removed the stretch marks AND healed my c-section scar beautifully.
To help with anxiety, I’d say prep a plan to get your body back. I know a few moms who started working out as soon as possible. I on the other hand didn’t “workout” until I was done with the fourth trimester. I focused more on building a routine with baby, feeling better physically and making sure I ate and rested.
I prioritized a pelvic therapist, chiropractor, medical pilates (not studio-chic), and skin care during the 4th trimester. Once I was cleared, I was able to go back to my usual workout routine.
Good luck. 🍀
