Does anyone have insight into the BCG experienced hire / planning process? I finished interviewing in Sept this year and was told that the location I applied for was full and that I could receive an offer for a different city if I agreed. I told the recruiter that I would wait for an opening at my preferred location and she said she would circle back around Nov once they completed their resource planning for 2023. Followed up and they said they would update in Jan. Is this normal?

I’m currently working for a small technical consulting start-up firm. I make good money, have great benefits, and they seem very happy with the work I’m doing, so I know I could move up quickly. However, tech consulting is definitely not my dream job. I want to get into data analytics, and I have an offer from a big company to do just that. I’ve only been at my current company for about 8 months, but I don’t ever see myself loving this job. How do I know when it’s time to make a change?
