not really, culture is still toxic here:
1. partners playing favoritism and only staff consultants they know, so it will be hard to get staffed when you are new or go to certain projects i.e. health care and PE
2. these same partners who play favoritsm staff someone higher than the actual rank when the person is not ready (associate staffed as manager) - this sucks
3. people are lazy and culture of massive delegation, starting at associate level. Managers will try their best hardly do any hands-on work, or any work at all
4. subjective performance assessment and last minute downgrade
good thing is, exit options are good. I would strongly recommend to take other T2 offers (not big4) /MBB if available
End of pandemic has released a lot of pressure and improved ways of working, culture. In terms of WLB, it's an industry issue and remains the same across all firms in general, and is more driven by specific project nature, client, etc.
To improve WLB, there are many tactical actions that can be taken
- As a junior: get efficient with work, pushback/ challenge upfront, think properly & structure all the steps upfront before methodical execution, raise issues whenever team works in an inefficient manner, etc.
- As a leader: invest in development of teams, hire/staff strong team members, 80-20 approach with client, etc.

Long hours are still celebrated. On any question one asks they keep reminding you of the additional money they are willing to pay
Thank you everyone for your responses - really appreciate the transparency esp. from the Kearney folks :)
I am currently working at a boutique and intend to stay in consulting for a while. Thought Kearney may be a good platform for career development but not sure it would be bearable.
I appreciate the tough wlb of the industry... but i imagine layering a not so optimal culture / leadership team would really exacerbate the pain...
2 follow up questions:
1. How would you rate the chances of building a successful long term career at Kearney?
2. Is the leadership / cultural situation likely to improve? Have there been step changes made or at least encouraging progress towards the right direction?
Well nowdays its getting tougher with internal department politics sometimes you can't survive long in a company due to favouritism or if the company hire and fire they keep for few months only .
I think the key word is Karma
