Kids and a demanding client and a husband that is still working outside the house. It’s making me go crazy. I’ve always been afraid of anxiety meds because I have sometimes associated my anxiety with my drive. I’m afraid I won’t care as much. But I can feel myself shutting down and avoiding my kids and clients and coworkers when I get anxious and overwhelmed.
Anyone have experience with medication for both anxiety and add and still feel like yourself (whatever that means.. I guess maybe a better version of yourself).?
I have adhd and GAD. I use a few supplements for the anxiety, namely Theanine and, Olly Calm Gummies and Natural Vitality Calm Powder. I didn’t like how anti anxiety meds made me feel. I felt muted. Medication and mental illness are so nuanced though. You could have a totally different experience. Good luck!
Not exactly personal experience but my son has ADHD and GAD. We had success early in with Concerta for one and Zoloft for the other and then they started interacting badly. The anxiety symptoms got much worse. Just be wary of interactions. We use the ADHD now and the Olly gummies. Magnesium supplements are also supposed to be very good for anxiety - especially as ADD/ADHD meds wear off at end of day.
My doctor told me adderall for long term use is not good for the nervous system and anxiety. Same happened to my niece and she had to slowly taper off and get put on lexepro or zoloft. Can't remember which one.
Yeah I can definitely understand that. I’ve tried a few others and nothing seems to work as well or work without other immediate side effects. Granted I guess losing my mind isn’t an ideal long term side effect. Ha. I am on a super low dose and always have been. But have a virtual appt with my doctor today to discuss.
