Does anyone here work in Sales & Use Tax/Indirect Tax in public accounting? I was curious as to how many hours a week you average and if there is any type of busy season to expect. I work in industry Sales & Use Tax but my work is typically spread out every month which leads to a more normal schedule but didn’t know how different it would be in public accounting.

Depends on the firm and whether you are in a compliance or consulting role. My experience in the latter has been 45 hrs on average, but sometimes unexpected work comes in and you have to be flexible.

Lately, I've been hearing a lot from my peers about how sales isn't a real profession.
I work at a tech startup and it mostly comprises developers. They can't stop emphasizing their importance in the food chain and I can't figure if I'm too humble or they're too arrogant.
This yapping comes from people I've known since college. I have successfully blocked all such negativity but wanted to know if anyone here has faced such scenarios.
P.S: I've already accepted an offer above my expectations

Do you know how burned out you are exactly?

According to psychologists Herbert Freudenberger (who invented the term "Burnout") and Gail North, there are 12 stages.

Burnout has a wide range, from "I can't wait for the day to be over" to having a complete mental or physical collapse.

Make sure you pay attention to your symptoms and not lose track of who you are and where you need to be mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Additional Posts in SALT - State and Local Tax

I am not from the US and taxes overwhelm me; the first few years I did them with TurboTax and it was fine but then I entered a domestic partnership and had a baby. I also bought a house (that I don’t live in), so I went to H&R Block to give it a try assuming they could advise me on optimizing my return, it seemed that they are completely transactional as the person is just typing numbers in a form. Any recommendations on how to navigate personal taxes with an actual advisor?

Any big four hiring for indirect tax ?

Maxed out Roth IRA contributions when I wasn't eligible for 2021 (got a salary bump mid year). Do I need to recharacterize? It's a very small account that's been open for only two years. That's the only IRA account I own. Do I need to open a traditional IRA and roll over 6k + realized gains into that account and keep the Roth IRA. So confused how this works and got conflicting information from Merrill.
