Does anyone know how to get your experience sign off, if you leave the firm prior to passing the CPA exam?

I had an issue with getting mine signed by my group's partner after I left the firm. I called the state board and they told me that any CPA can sign off on your experience as long as the words 'I declare under penalty of perjury' are there, and the letter is on the firm's letterhead. This CPA can even be a staff

like

Pretty sure they are required to disclose your experience for license purposes

Interested in this as well. I’ve passed the exam but will only have 1200 hours. Would the firm sign off on those hours so I only need the remainder in the future?

Just get someone you worked for to sign it off - I did that from a previous internship and it was fine... assuming you have a manager you’re on good terms with or something!

Experience sign off is a professional courtesy. If a firm won’t do it, tell the State Board.

You don’t need to involve the state board. Most of the people will sign off but if you are not getting a response from team, involve the HR person and that will help.

You can contact HR or just reach out to a partner/manager that you worked with if you feel comfortable doing that

I just emailed the partner once I passed after I left and he approved it

Is our industry as competitive as some say? I see a lot of people saying this and I work with a bunch of hacks (myself included). Maybe I’m just out of touch being in this career for so long.

If a firm has multiple openings that you’re interested in, is it a good or bad idea to apply to more than one position? I’m a third year interested in retooling from lit to general corp, but they prefer someone with 3+ years of corporate experience. They’re also looking for an M&A with 1+ years, so it may be easier to aim for that, but I’ve heard horror stories re WLB for M&A. Would still try it out tho bc I’m desperate to leave lit, but don’t want to make a faux pas. Any insights appreciated!

I recently bought my 1st home in TX. I want to get into real estate and eventually own/rent out multiple homes. Are there any good recommendations/tips on books/articles/websites that others have used to get started?

I've read about HELOC and cash out refinance to get a 2nd home but articles are so scattered that it gets confusing which is better in terms of tax benefits and immediate costs, etc. Anything others have found helpful that summarized how to get started would be great!
