Don't know if there are explicit cut-offs, but remember that it's often a holistic evaluation. The disadvantage of having a lower GPA is that someone who has similar ECs / work experiences AND higher grades will stand out more. In a way, just by meeting (and hopefully having fun!) with other applicants at events/etc., you can get a sense. Hope this framing helps!
Thanks for the feedback!
Depends on the group usually. 3.0 for more IT audit / accountingy roles.
3.3 is hard cut off for consulting based roles at the big four but you realistically want above a 3.5.
Probably 3.5 hard cut off for big three but want above 3.7
GPA cutoff is correct but isn’t the end all be all. I got final round interviews at a T2 and had offers from 2 Big 4 companies with a 3.3
Depends on your major more than anything
3.7 GPA means something very different for engineering vs some humanities degrees
What about for finance/business degree
If you have a referral you can get away with a 3.2, not sure how much lower would be passable
For most strategy (MBB/T2) firms 3.5 is the cutoff to be considered, but if you are at the bottom end of that make sure to network and have a pretty convincing story.
Also campus recruiting can help remedy this if you’re at a top school
For sure! I had a 3.6 and definitely didn’t feel counted out that often - it only impacts your shot at getting an interview, past that it’s a relatively equal playing ground.
Did just fine at EY with a 3.66
Okay I have a 3.57 how would this be perceived?
