Hi Fishes, I have received an offer from Barclays for AVP position. But the role discussed during interview was for Tech Delivery Manager whereas the offer letter mentions it as Tech Delivery Lead. Can you guys please suggest if it is the same role or should I request recruiter to get the role updated? No regrets whatsoever about going to the Creative Circus. I made many good connections and better yet, many good friends. What I do regret was not finding it til I was 27 (didn’t even know what an art director was til then) and married with a kid - and having to work close to full time in a bar (Moe’s & Joe’s for those that know the ATL) Obviously nothing against my family, but to do it right, you have to be able to commit nearly every waking moment of your time for two years. Ideally no job and no dependents if possible.
Honestly, my biggest regret in going to the circus was not having a job while I was in ATL. It was such a dumb, irresponsible financial decision and I’m still in debt because of it. Overall I think it was too high a price to have this career

nope. just for connections alone it was worth it. it also taught me what was required in the ad biz which undergrad definitely didnt prepare me for.
Soon-to-be grad of Miami Ad!
Pros: internship opportunities, multiple campuses, alumni & networking
Cons: disorganized admin, some lazy classmates, $$
I learned so much during my time, both in and out of the classroom. If I could do it again, I’d do more internships but I don’t regret my decision to attend!
I feel I've gotten better mileage out of my 3 months in planning bootcamp at MAS than my 4 years at an Ivy. Also has to do with where I am in life though.
Not one bit. I think of it as one of the best life decisions I’ve made. But putting my own personal life trajectory stuff aside, the relationships you build in ad school can help you a lot later in your career.
I went to Miami ad school. Honestly, what I noticed was that it was either people who had no experience trying to transition to account planning and people who had a couple years under their belt.
What I noticed was that people who had no experience had a pretty hard time and most did not end up in advertising because they lacked the experience.
It was an interesting 3 months, I learned about Miami (definitely not for me) and I met some cool people. But definitely not a must have.
Miami Ad School is the bomb. Great network and an even better hands-on experience.

currently at MAS NYC. It was a great decision for the network and the internship and learning design skills that I probably wouldn't have learned as quickly on my own. I wouldn't recommend this location if you want more design knowledge though. Atlanta is better for that. The NYC location is really expensive especially with high rent prices on top of that, and the school is honestly a little janky. the quality of the classes are also very dependent on who your teacher is. I will say though, I met some of my best friends through this program.

No regrets about going to Texas Creative. Small, but great program if you use your resources well. I do think VCU would have been a good alternative— but nothing really beats being able to knock out undergrad and portfolio school with one bill. Taught me everything I needed to know to get where I am today.

TX Creative portfolio program has plenty of its grads in national market agencies— now winning awards and doing a lot of awesome work on their own. Look up Craig Allen. One of the best.
I’m a 35-year-old in the middle of a looming divorce with no children. I have $15,000 owed in student loans and $8,000 in savings.
I have never worked at a big agency and I live in South FL. My options are LatAm agencies or Zimmerman.
Is portfolio school right for me at this stage in my life? Or should I just work on my book, make connections on my own, and just keep knocking the doors of agencies?
Is it too late for a fresh start or is there no better time than now? Guidance and advice is appreciated.

I wish I skipped university so I could get a student visa abroad and work.
I went to the PC, Atlanta and got the skills, strategy, and concept. Expensive but comprehensive.
If you want to work at Burnett, go to Chicago Portfolio... seems like they almost exclusively freelance and hire junior talent from there🙂
You are just paying for a network... But you need that if you want to be in the industry. It's all who you know.... You basically are joining a frat, that also teaches you SOME advertising.
