I’ve been at my company for 12 years, we are absolutely winging it 24/7
I’ve never felt like any of my companies winged it except my first internship where they called an all hands and asked everyone for ideas what should we do next… it really made me not want to work there. Second company had a clear product and goal and it was successful. Third company had the business model down to iterate product development and make money. I think that was the most smoothly run company I worked for. Current company feels like the how to make money part isn’t so great. How to do things isn’t great but we have great products.

Everyone is winging it as they go.
I feel the same way
All companies wing it and chase each others tails
Are we all working for the same company?
In this economy, it seems like we all are.
Yes, this is rampant in IT. “Fake it while you make it.”
Yes! Although I'm beginning to see that some people should never be in charge. It's pretty frightening.
Welcome to life. Happy you’re here 🙏🏻
Thanks! 😊
Yeah certainly
You mean a wolf in sheep’s clothing?
Eyah that too!
We're all winging it man
I felt like this everywhere I've worked. Although some are definitely more organized than others. Where I work now is not very organized at all.
Fake it 'til you make it.
Even at Google? I’m surprised but wanted to believe…
Honestly the older I get the more I realise this world is built on smoke and mirrors. No wonder it's all burning down around us.
The idea that working hard and being good at your job is all you need is a lie. It's who you know and how well you can fake it. That's what I see in every company I've worked in bar one small company that was more a start up. The big corporations and governments are rife with unproductivity and inefficiency.
In the past yes but not my current one
I think it is human nature to settle into a routine. Technology changes so rapidly. It can be overwhelming. However, companies must embrace learning new things as the landscape changes. They must value their people or they will go somewhere else. Only those who know the inside operations of a company would be able to best determine what this would entail. It is easy to become comfortable with what you do. Not necessarily a bad thing, but be willing to learn more to be valuable.
I have been at big and little companies, and it's amazing to see how many wing it. There are a few that organize things, and are more efficient in what they do, but for the most part everything is winged.
Remember most companies do things “their way” and there is no script to follow. Even if it is documented, someone winged it before it was documented. 🙃

Accurate.
Yes. Even in sales... basic ideas like what is our product, purpose, core strength, and likelihood of success go out the window with the short term "but maybe money now" braindead approach.
People in sales and leadership don't bother to learn what we do and repeat the same 3 unsuccessful strategies.
c’est la vie, mon ami
