There’s Executive Director at Deloitte?? In consulting there’s only M > SM > MD/P.... 🤔
MD then.
MD and Partner are the same level as Deloitte. Some do make the switch (they have to go through the partner/MD admission process a second time) but it’s not like other firms where MD is the level before partner
I believe at all B4, MD is a destination role, meaning that chances of you converting to partner are low. It happens but not often (this is excluding direct admits).
We often hire people as MDs and convert them to Partner if they meet agreed upon goals. But you should have all of these conversations and define those requirements.
For internal candidates, this is not common. I know of 2 people.
At PwC, we are increasingly using MD as a bridge from D to P in *some* practices. Gets people better comp/title/respect while they’re building chops to fully make P, but has scared/pissed off some good people who left
I assume anyone promoted into it feels like “oh crap, it means I’ll never make P"
