Does your firm have a formalized FP&A function? I’m a Senior Manager in our corporate strategy department (not client-facing) and I’ve been asked by our executive team/Board to stand this up. While I do have minimal experience doing this as part of my role, I feel like this should be its own function within Finance, not a side hustle. Especially at a $1B+ company.

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

I’m not bad with money but definitely lots of room to improve overall, due to several personal factors I don’t want to list in full here (numerous unanticipated medical bills, bad boyfriends, etc.) Hence why I only have $3k in savings right now. Ugh got another “adequate contributor” review. Feedback says I have potential/good work-ethic but not a good of understanding of procedures and auditing. Been in PA for 6 months. How do I improve?

Are we overthinking the comp, benefits, wlb and the sort?
Sometimes I wish I could just do the job and not think about any of those things. But then I look at the time and nine hours passed by and I still have three hours left before I can say that I made a ding to my To Do list for the day.
