It was much easier to do before PA started handing out 25% raises…..
I haven’t received these so called 25% raises, which is why Im looking elsewhere.
Recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn. Got lucky I guess. Almost doubled my salary. Living great now. :)
The answer to this question has a lot to do with your level, city and network.
Not sure how long you’ve been looking for but about 98% of the tax and accounting jobs out there are in public accounting. Get in touch with some recruiters you trust, search company websites for positions you want, and realize that it may take you quite a lot of time to find a spot that’s worth moving for (like 1, 2, 3 years)

Start with your network. But you also said you had talked to a recruiter. If you've only talked to one, talk to others. I talked to plenty that tried to convince me I wasn't going to get a big bump because it fit the salary bands for their openings. But then I found others with positions offering much higher salaries.

Some recruiters show you jobs based on your position/yoe, and sometimes give you some jobs from the bottom of the barrel that have been open for a while and trying to fill. When I made the switch I had 3-4 recruiters helping me at the same time and 2 of them always gave me shit jobs. I ended up going with one I liked for about 35% raise.
