Yes we have PBIS. Students earn points that they can "spend" for snacks or special privileges -- like wearing blue jeans to school instead of their school uniform. Does it work? Well, it rewards the students who would be good anyway -- so that's a good thing -- but I do not believe it serves as an incentive to keep the unruly ones from acting up.
I try to make some more store items free items like 5-Minute Brain Break, color on my desk calendar, play 10 minutes of Uno with 2 friends (those friends have to be meeting classroom expectations), Sit In The ROLLING Chair (this is a big seller!), etc.

We have used PBIS for about 5 years. I agree that the students who could benefit from the rewards the most are the ones who couldn't give a flip. I do like the electronic behavior plans and that teachers can create a store for students to use their rewards. I think that teachers need to be thoroughly trained to utilize all of the system.
Curious about this. I've heard talks about implementing some aspects of PBIS in a phase-like way but all the research I've done on it sounds like just another generic "no child left behind" initiative. Supposedly there's a bunch of long-term data but since everything is still in the decision-making phase I'm limited in knowing what aspects they're going to try.
I would say no. We end up rewarding those who should not be getting a reward. Not those who are good. Our admin thinks this will help those who are stinkers:(
Some teachers just hand out Reward bucks like candy! I like to give out the Bucks but I don't toss them out. (Our admin actually put the teachers on a Buck Budget to tame down the teachers who were "saturating the market".
Yes, we use it. No, I don’t think it works. Maybe we are “doing it wrong”, but offering extrinsic rewards has just reinforced the children’s attitudes that “I deserve a special reward for doing what I am supposed to do.” It does nothing to help kids develop thoughtful or kind behavior for the right reasons. Also, the children with the most challenging behavior don’t seem to respond well to it. It feels like “one more thing” we are expected to implement. I am not a fan.
You are so correct. I know we don’t do it correctly. Those who get the rewards laugh about it and continue the behaviors. We are high school and I have students tell me they think it’s a joke. They never get anything and yet they are the ones not in trouble. They know it’s not working. The behaviors don’t get better:(
It works to an extent in our school because the students look forward to our school store to buy items. They also go on exciting class trips to cool places in our city.
