I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?
Or shall I just start new email thread and mention how I know them?

Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. I get over it by reminding myself that my dream agency was interested and my dream salary was within reach. It means you CAN get where you want. You’re super close. Just gotta keep swinging.

When interviewing we're evaluating each other for fit. You don't want to be somewhere that's a bad fit, it leads to an unhappy experience, so if either of you are calling it, then that's a good thing.
Now maybe you are absolutely sure this was a fit, and not just a grass is greener type thing, and then that means maybe you could have been better somewhere. Find out how, grow, improve, so you can get it next time.
From that you have 3 outcomes: the job is right for you and you get it, or the job is right for you and you don't get it but you learn how to get closer to getting it next time, or the job isn't right for you and you dodged a bullet.
But the worst is getting the wrong job.
It won’t be your only opportunity! Clearly they saw something in you, and they won’t be the only ones. Good luck ❤️
I know this was frustrating, because it looked like a great fit & you really wanted it - and great jobs don’t come open every day.
On the plus side, if you got considered for this one, you can get considered for other great gigs.
In all seriousness, while it may be very hard to get detailed info, try to get some insight on where it did not connect. Was it you, or was someone else just an even better alignment, or did they go internal for the position? Why was it the dream agency in your mind? The work, the culture? How well do you really fit with what you think/thought they were? What do you think they were actually looking to hear/see?
I’m not trying to turn this into a psychoanalysis session, but sorting things out as best you can is a bit of a career skill that can lead you to the best fits, or positioning yourself more sharply for the jobs you want.
Hope this is helpful.
It’s worth a try, but in today’s world, post mortem candor is very rare, and there are all kind of legal issues, so don’t expect a reply. It usually takes a very good friend or a trusted coach to tell us how it really is. And, the person has to believe you can hear it. One of the greatest assets any of us can have in our career is a wise, candid coach. And, the coach has to feel that we are seeking to understand, not to debate.
Whatever feedback you get will ultimately only be that person’s take, so you just have collect data points over time to figure out where you best fit.
On behalf of everyone at Critical Mass, we are truly sorry we moved on with a more qualified candidate. But we think you're top-notch.
At least you got an interview. All agencies pass on me, and that is depressing.
they liked you enough now to interview, they'll like you even more in the future! you can only build up until the next time you get to interview with them again
