End of the year bonuses normally aren’t paid out in November. Are you jumping the gun? If you have reason to believe that would have been paid now for some reason, then I would ask your boss.
You don’t want to seem greedy? What kind of mentality is that? Get every $ you can get.
Ask your boss what’s up

Why don't you just ask if there are EOY bonuses this year?
Dang! Where are you working and in what practice area? We got the “over bonus mark annual bonuses” but I’ve never even received a holiday card from The Firm in all my years of BigLaw. Did treasure the ones my secretary signed f& sent for the partner next to me — instead of getting my filings couriered to the federal court on time! 🤦🏻♀️😂
/laughing joyfully/ Gorgeous country. Fun roads to drive. You see, I keep falling more in love with the area every year when I drive my husband home to get in touch with his roots and see old friends! My husband has never touched an instrument he cannot play, and his speaking voice alone melts me, never mind when he is playing guitar and singing. On our 1st trip taking him “home, oh country roads,” he & his friends thought this former BigLaw turned international consultant would consider the La Quinta in E-Town to be a perfectly “nice hotel.” It was fine, though, I’m a master shopper — We stayed in The 5⭐️ Galt House for $61 a night — 24th floor, river view, king suite, and I took him on some of The Bourbon Trail. These days we’re regulars of the Boone Tavern. What a hidden gem! And those kids all go to college for free at that lovely college in the valley!!! Meet us there for lunch or dinner sometime? My husband grew up near Fort Knox & his father’s people are from Irvine.
You do realize that it sounds like you make far more money annually than I did in BigLaw? The stories I can — and do — tell! All for laughter. It’s the only way to roll!
So glad to read that you have work you enjoy and are so sucessful in.
So glad you wrote back! My skill set is in writing the “impossible” briefs and winning or in dealing with major national class actions or international multi-tier M&As — and shopping 🛍! 🤷🏻♀️

I’m a 36 y/o non-equity partner specializing in commercial lit at a big city firm w/ 100+ attys. I elevated in May 2022.
Since assuming this role, I’ve struggled to find reliable associate help. I have access to two 2nd yr associates and two law clerks (3Ls). However, I am frequently told by the associates that they do not have bandwidth to take on any of my work or that they will need an inordinate amt of time to complete an assignment due to workload. This includes cases where they have entered appearances as the attorney of record and should be, in my opinion and based on my experience, the attorney primarily tasked with moving the file while I take a supervisory backseat. However, nothing is getting done on any of these litigated files unless and until I request it. As a result, I am charging clients at my rate to write briefs and perform research that should be and could be performed by a cheaper, more jr. atty.
Is anyone else running into this situation? Is this a generational thing? Since when is it ok to turn down work? I’ve honestly never done it. What, if anything, should I do to get the associate support that I very much need?
