Never wait around. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Always keep applying to other opportunities no matter how much it seems like this hiring manager wants you. Until there is a formal offer extended, nothing is set in stone. So, don’t miss out on checking out other opportunities and doing other interviews. Waiting around is unfair to you.

applicants are very often ghosted these days, where is the courtesy these days?!
Speak to me or about me (personal acquaintance) she speaks very highly of me and that she is very interested in me. Am I crazy for waiting around for her to reach out to me or should I just take it as it is and continue waiting?
Mergers often take a long time. If there is still a hiring freeze, then this VP probably doesn’t have anything else to say to you because, well, they are waiting on the merger to go through.
