I had three rounds of interviews and everyone loved me and I was told I was definitely getting the job. The last interview was with the VP and he said no. I was gutted. The previous person I interviewed with profusely apologized for verbally telling me I had the job. It was a punch in the gut, but I had to live with that decision and I’m now at a place where I love. Things happen for a reason!
I am happy that, at the end you are where you belong.
That is a great way of looking at it! I wonder what triggered the VP to go against all of his team, that's very weird, probably he preferred a referred candidate.

All the time! I’ve seen candidates completely freeze on a key question and still get the offer, and others ace every round but get passed over for reasons out of their control. It’s a good reminder that hiring is rarely a straight line.
