i feel like you’ll have more luck working with a recruiter. i’ve found all my jobs working with a recruiter, not applying solo (but i have gotten interviews and made it to final stages when applying for jobs by myself). my recent job hunting success: i just got two job offers paying $80k+ recently (i applied to one directly on their website and the other was through a recruiter). it took 2 months of seriously searching
It sounds like a good idea but I’ve never had much success from recruiters, one I had never even got back to me with a rejection!
Still hunting, no success yet (if success is defined by getting an offer). But, yeah, it's been a tough few years in the job market, and now AI has changed the game. My most recent success is NOT sending out a 'default' resume to postings (resulted in zero activity), and tailoring my resume to each posting -- repeat back (in natural way) the same terminology the posting used. The AI systems don't analyze, they search for matches. Give them the matches they are looking for. This has resulted in far more activity -- some success.
Yeah tailoring seems to have the most success it’s just so much longer, I guess you have to beat those AI checking systems.
Referral. That's it. Applied to 150+ jobs online and got nowhere. A friend forwarded my resume to their manager and I had an interview within a week. I hate that networking is the answer because it's so unhelpful, but it truly was for me.
This is the age old answer! Don’t think this will ever not be a good strategy really you just need a foot in the door which can be hard.
