OP, exit ops generally work as follows:
You will be doing the same kind of work you did in consulting and often in the same industry sector, and very often a previous client who liked you.
That isn't to say you can't do something else, but your generic exit op as a salesforce consultant is going to be doing salesforce. Exceptions include:
- going to a small consulting firm where you help SMBs and have more direct access to the business
- finding a way to train yourself in what you want to do and then selling your experience to support that (DD1)
- transfer internally at your firm to another function
- get an MBA
But seriously, this is an easy copy/paste. Your exit ops = what you do now unless you're willing to put in a ton of effort
OP that depends. Do you read books on other subjects or just spend your time chilling outside of work? I'm a Salesforce Consultant, covered around 2-3 books on supply chain ,strategy, and finance. I hired WSO to redo my resume to make my salesforce implementations reworded to indicate any macro level impact on profits and losses for those particular business units or cost cutting efforts (if Service Cloud). I also took trainings on WSO and FirmConsulted, and picked up a few books related to my industries of interest. My exit opps will be similar to those S&O peeps
Dd2 has it worked for you or is that just what you're expecting? Would like to hear what you're doing now
I think your best exit opp from Appirio is to come to a more reputable and global firm. I love Deloitte because there's just so many opportunities to take advantage of. So many initiatives, clients, industries, and training programs.
Sometimes on the weekends I take industry specialization courses thru Deloitte's learning platform
Agree with DD2, you're going to be in salesforce if you're at appirio brought to you by wipro
Move to ACN or DD and you'll have better exit ops
As a product mgr?
Or as a consultant
Something outside of consulting....also that's just one company. Talking about in general
What are you interested in OP?
Probably doing salesforce? Jut guessing
I guess my question is more along the lines of are we pigeonholed as Salesforce consultants whereas strategy consultants seems like they have more opportunities
OP do you work for ACN?
ba1 nah....appirio
OP, well I managed to do a few S&O projects, got into a few Masters of Finance programs, got into a few b schools. Am trying to network my way into a VC role prior to b school, even if it's an unpaid internship.
Salesforce is hot right now at DD too!
DD2 I appreciate the hustle but it sounds like you have no life lol
