Experienced Cloud Professionals, what are your opinions on Cloud FinOps as a practice and career path?

Is it just a gimmick, or is it here to stay? If it's here to stay, then eventually things will get automated to the point that we don't need FinOps professionals anymore?

Is it just a part of DevOps and doesn't need a separate professional or team to implement?

Has anyone considered shifting from consulting to teaching? Doing PhD from top IIMs and working as faculty?

I accepted an offer last month. Put In my two weeks on Friday and PwC countered / beat my new offer. I still plan to take the new role, but would like the new company to match. However, I don’t want to risk anything with the new company. Or come off as a difficult new team member before I start. Thoughts?

Recently had our first child. It's really making me think twice about my career path. For those of you with kids, is the job worth it? I feel like I'm losing out on so many memories already.

I have hit my wall. I cannot do public accounting any longer. I cannot deal with the constant focus on compliance, billable hour and the general unproductive behaviors/mindsets. I remember a day when we were here to help clients. Now I just feel like we are here to bill clients. I want to go help someone build something.

Does anyone have any insight into partners retiring early? I am at a point where I need to consider leaving if I am not aiming for partner. I don’t see myself working past my 40s. My partner and I are not big spenders and anticipate have enough to retire comfortably in 40s (obviously a lot can change). I have been assured I will become SM in next year (currently 31 years old).

Hi, how do I make sure that the AWS AutoPredict in the AWS Forecast module makes use of the RTS (Related Time Series)? In my previous iteration it took the RTS and the accuracy was good, but after I made a few updates to the underlying data the accuracy has come down and AutoPredict is not making use of the RTS.

I have 10 years of experience. Mostly in Unix, C++ and Visual C++ and MS SQL. I developed interest in cloud computing as like many others and was able to clear AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solution Architect Associate and Professional, AWS Security. Along with these I was able to clear 8 Azure certifications as well: 3 fundamentals, Azure Security, Azure Developer, Azure DevOps and Azure Architect.
Now my main question, can I try to switch on Cloud Architect or some other similar cloud roles?
