Though PI is soft right now. I still like my imagery
OP, you didn't generate $20M in sales as a senior. You either were part of an extension on a large project or worked on some proposals. I hate how people loosely throw the word "sales" around in consulting
AC1- did you come in from a target school
There are M1s out there making low $100s. So you're not screwed per se. There are certainly data points to argue that you could be higher, but the best M1s I've seen range from $105-120. You're already above them. Perhaps you're getting outlier datapoints here that drive your sentiment? I would recommend having an honest conversation to find out where you are compared to peers.
Yes, I came from a target school.
Salty, big time
Raise is primarily driven by rating, not promo status / level. Interesting that you were 3-rated but "skip" promoted from S2 to manager. Even still, I would generally not expect promotion year raises to be different from any other years. Bottom line: almost 10% and a promotion as a 3 in a down year for the firm sounds like a pretty good outcome.
M2, Sorry for the verbiage - to be clear, I worked with a group from proposal through pitch an a $20m deal
Thanks for that context EY5. In this case we won new Advisory work.
Like I said OP. Have a competing offer next year if they value you they'll come close
Thanks M2. Timing wise, you are suggesting waiting for a year before interviewing, as opposed to beginning the process once the new title becomes official?
Op, I was 128 m1 144m2 158 m3, Bay Area risk no mba
I was at 114K as an M1 last year so the band is much wider than that of 138K as the lowest but also don't live in NY
OP...start looking in April to give it time since industry is slow to offer. You want offer right after July when they are approving comp
Ah- thank you very much for the insight, M2. Much appreciated.
Advice... Don't do it often. Do it next year and not again for 5 years
Yea I hear you on that one.
EY MBA campus hires start at 140k for a Senior Consultant, Id be salty. Do you have an advanced degree or straight promote?
So salty. Came in from MBA at 140 2 years ago. Above 150 now as a newly promoted M1
Mentor I used to work with at PwC was 35, MBA, and made $138k as a senior.
EY 1, I misspoke on "generating" those sales. However, I have that much in sales credit on my business metrics.
OP... You're doing the right things though to get promoted and get strong reviews. Doing all these proposals will eventually teach you how to structure one once you're a SM and how to respond to RFPs. You should also remember how much doing proposals suck as you move up and manage team accordingly
