Cushman & Wakefield Interested in a Sales Associate position at Cushman & Wakefield. I have experience as a government analyst for 7 years but nothing related to commercial real estate. I want to become a more competitive applicant but not sure where to start. Are there any certificates, skills, or knowledge that I should be learning in my free time?

Seriously... wtf is your comp that $300k is a massive cut.
And competition for VP/SD is beyond fierce. I’m interviewing for some positions that I find semi interesting but pay usually falls around $280k-$300k which is a massive pay cut from where I am... I really want to leave consulting this year and am willing to compromise for better WLB but not sure by how much
You’re asking for $330k+ but then something that is $300k is a “massive pay cut”?
If you want to be in the high $300k+ range, you’ll need to target L7 position at Amazon / Google / etc., or senior ED level at a tier 1 bank
It sounds like you don't have the skills that command those salaries outside of consulting industry. Not by any means a dig at you, but you'll need to target higher level roles at tech firms which often require some depth of experience and knowledge within a domain. Top roles at banks, which are probably not hiring like tech is and have many more people to choose from. You can also look at similarly high levels in consumer good or pharma. What is your skillset or industry focus?
Fellow SM here—definitely not seeing anything close to $300k right now.
It’s a change in mix for most places I’ve seen. Lower base but total comp is comparable when you add in stock, bonus etc. I’ve not seen any VP / SD with base above $300k. I’m sure they’re out there but like you say, v rare.
Are you at AlixPartners? I've only heard of such comp. for Directors at AP.
This is so classically Alix. $400k+ to source in retail. No up or out, but no options to go anywhere. This is the Alix tag line
What’s your specialization?
What’s your total comp breakdown that 300K is a major drop in comp? There are only a handful of SMs at Deloitte that crack 325K+.
My specialization is supply chain and sourcing mostly for retail. I’m not looking to relocate so that also narrows down my list. I’m looking to clear $450k at my firm this year. I’m changing my mindset that what I make now doesn’t really matter. It’s all about what the market bears based on my yoe and skill set which seems to be around $280-$300k
Retail is probably F’d
What M1 said. Damn. I must be grossly underpaid
