Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!
A nice comfortable office chair.
https://ergochair.co/collections/chairs/products/ergonomics-mesh-chair-w-adjustable-headrest-and-armrest?variant=32511617597491
My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.
AMA.

If, like most US workers, you are an at-will employee, then you have virtually no leverage. At-will employees can be fired at any time for any reason (with surprisingly narrow exceptions for race and gender) with no notice and no severance.
Most employment law, which this falls under, is written to protect employers not employees.
I’d ask how they intend to handle it if potential employers contact them about your previous work. Will they just confirm employment dates and basic details, or will they explicitly state to anyone who asks that you were fired for cause? If the former, which I would expect since the latter opens them up to potential lawsuits, then I would just walk away. You won’t win much by forcing them to give you severance by threatening to tell what you’ve seen.
In this scenario, HR = Legal.
If it were me, I would:
1. Record the convo
2. Answer no questions, or only answer with something like "not that I can recall at this time"
3. Get answers to my questions (don't try to negotiate, just understand from their perspective)
Then hang up the phone and decide what to do with all available facts/ fictions in hand.
No, being fired has no leverage...
If for cause like they claim you were stealing, nobody gets severance in that case. If for missing performance targets or general layoffs severance is more the norm but you won't win any legal battle for it if they're not offering it. If from retaliation for some issue you previously were a whistle blower for, now you have a lawsuit for wrongful termination, which is usually worth a lot more than any severance. But if you want to introduce your facts about wrongful behavior of other people for the first time after you've already been fired, nobody will believe it's anything real and will chalk it up to bitterness so you probably don't want to even bother.
I see what you’re saying @K2. It was performance - was put in some extreme situations in regards to time constraint and ended up missing deadlines. Gave it my 100% effort but wasn’t enough.
You’ve been terminated for cause it sounds like or were on a PIP and you didn’t meet the criteria. You can ask. Employers can only release dates of employment and title. That’s it.
OP best way to tackle this is to say that your role was eliminated due to market/business conditions. You can also try to get a short term/part time/contract consulting role and tel interviewers that your last role wasn’t a good fit due to XYZ so you wanted to do your own thing and explore other options. Also, try to get friends and people in your network to forward your resume to their companies. HR will be less likely to probe about this. Remember too that you’re not the first person to get fired (happened to me twice) and employers know that this just happens. If there’s a gap on your resume and yo get an interview then that implies that they probably know what’s going on but are still interested in you. Best advice is to just be confident, don’t beat yourself up, and don’t come off as desperate.
Are you accenture? Why are you being fired?
Good advice, A2 - that’s what’s on my mind. Need to figure out what they’d say.
Talk to lawyer ASAP
You can get unemployment at least
Also don't use the word fired ever. Call it laid off which is more aligned with not having a place for you due to market conditions.
Op, no problem, I’ve been through this twice so I’m happy to share my experience to make it easier for others...it sucks but on the plus side I now always just assume that nothing is certain with my job and I have the confidence to know that I’ll be able to roll with the punches if things go badly...
Severance is quickly becoming a thing of the past anyway
Good luck, been there...soon it will all be a distant memory..you’ll bounce back in a position better than where you were before
what leverage do you have?
Were you fired for cause or layoff situation ?
Significant leverage (witness to a lot of “stuff”) but it has potential to back fire on me. Idk if it’s smart to use it.
@A2 - cause; its a very long story and my end of it was not heard. No, I’m not ACN.
