Hello fishes,
I have a background in finance and 6+ YOE of professional work experience, I had to leave CA in between due to family emergency and started working (although only 1 group of CA final is left, 1 is cleared already), so can anyone provide an insight if being CA qualified is a mandatory requirement in EY and EY GDS in position of Manager in Accounting, auditing,FAAS,AWM teams etc
Would appreciate any insight, as seems HR everywhere just see degree and not the relevant work ex..

take stock of the requestor or aka the person giving you the work. prioritize deals based on impact to the business, the contract value etc.
Best Tip: Figure out who to reach out to in your first few weeks. Good partners to work for, good junior associates, good midlevels, etc. puts you on the radar, shows you care
Biggest Mistake: In the first few months not enjoy being slow. I was so nervous about having to be on and in the office Monday - Friday 8-5, I didn’t enjoy any of my slow time.
What I wish I would’ve been told: This is obvious, but our jobs are never 100% rainbows and sunshine. There will always be something (hours, bad partner, annoying colleague, etc.) adjust your expectations accordingly.
These are great, thanks! Definitely planning on spending time working out who fits in where in the team, who’s on the pulse etc.
Biggest mistake - interesting. Yes definitely got to enjoy the downtime when you can. What would you have done during that time to be most productive?
What you wish you’d been told - that’s a good one. I’ve spent years at one firm so I know nothing is 100% but I’d do well to remember that as I step into my new role!
Figure out who is and isn’t important at the new firm. Try to work for important people.

This—which means that sometimes the partners who are the most eager to work with you when you first arrive are the biggest walking red flags (because they rely on naive fresh meat to keep their matters staffed)
